Terraria is a 2D, side scrolling, action-adventure sandbox video game developed by Re-Logic. The inventive title was initially released for Windows on May 16, 2011 then later released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, iOS, and Android in 2013.  It was then released for Windows Phone, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2014, and for OS X, Linux, and Nintendo 3DS in 2015.  Finally, it will be released for Wii U on June 24 in Europe and June 28 in North America (2016).

The Wii U edition of the game will feature multiplayer exploration of procedurally created worlds, each including a handful of 14 different environments (or biomes).  You will be able to craft hundreds of weapons, armor, items and structures, and will be able to combat more than 150 different enemies ranging from zombies to goblins to hellspawn.

On a personal note, I have purchased five copies of this game so far, and it is one that is loved by my whole family.  My 9 year old loves playing it on the ipad, while my 12 year old and my 6 year old enjoy playing it with me on the PS4.  I can only imagine their excitement when we get it once again on the Wii U, as the controls they have really learned to love (the wiimote and control screen) will allow them a whole new look, a whole new feel to a game they already know.
This edition of Terraria also has intuitive touchscreen controls to allow players easy access to the world of Terraria, as well as several multiplayer options such as four-player local split-screen co-op and eight-player online multiplayer.  Players can also post achievements on Miiverse leaderboards to track progress.

“Terraria on Wii U offers an amazing new experience on the Wii U gamepad,” said Dean Scott, Producer at 505 Games. “Using the gamepad touch screen controls, the Wii U version allows players the unique ability to dig deep into Terraria’s universe and build complicated structures by simply drawing on the screen.”
This game is a good one for your collection if you enjoy the genre, and with the new additional controls, and additional updates and upgrades.  Other than some of the baddies being demons, and the animated violence, there isn’t really anything in this game that isn’t family or kid friendly.

This news is great for my home-game life, what do you think?  Hit us up in the comments below.
