See The Weapon That Beats The Wave Motion Gun In The New Yamato Movie

As far as I know, we still haven’t gotten the new Space Battleship Yamato 2199 TV/movie series in the United States, even after it aired a whole season in Japan. But now, there’s a follow-up movie, Star-Voyaging Ark, in which the Yamato gets hit with a weapon called the Flame Direct Attack Cannon, that can “transcend space.”

Yes, there’s now a weapon more devastating than the Wave Motion Gun.

(For Americans who watched a lot of television back in the day, this series is better known as Star Blazers.)

In this movie, Yamato is trying to return to Earth after visiting Iskandar and getting the Cosmic Reverse System. But at the edge of the Large Magellanic Cloud, they get attacked by a mysterious force called the Gatlantis, who want to take the Yamato for themselves. And they’re the ones who have the aforementioned super-super-weapon.

Above is nearly 10 minutes of the new movie, which opened last week in Japan. And here’s a new trailer, that shows off the devastating new weapon in action:
