Meet the latest Pathfinder IconicYestrday Paizo introduced the next of the new iconic characters from the Advanced Class Guide: Shardra the shaman. Shardra will also be a playable character in the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Wrath of the Righteous set due for release in February 2015. Shardra is notable for being the game’s first transgender iconic character. Paizo editor F. Wesley Schneider describes the character thusly:We just debuted the Pathfinder RPGs newest iconic character, Shardra, the iconic shaman (a member of one of the new classes in the Advanced Class Guide). Shes the character we at Paizo will be using as our stand-in for shaman players in art, pregenerated characters, miniatures, stories, etc, going forward. Shes an awesome looking character, who, like all of our iconics, is depicted by artist Wayne Reynolds. Her Meet the Iconics story is written by one of our close friends and veteran freelancers Crystal Frasier. Shardras amazing and well be seeing her adventures as one of the Pathfinder RPGs iconic heroes for years to come.Weve had iconics of many genders, ethnicities, sexualities, etc, but Shardra is our first transgender iconic. This might not be a big deal for you, but I expect it to be for a fair number of readers, fantasy lovers, friends, and fellow gamers out there. The Pathfinder Iconics have always been our stand-ins for player characters, for our readers, for the adventurers taking part in Pathfinder games across the world. Weve purposefully made these heroes a diverse array of characters, not just for artistic reasons, but as an attempt to make sure that anyone can look through a Pathfinder RPG rulebook, adventure, story, whatever, and find a character who they identify them, whether it be a dashing fighter like Valeros, a lesbian cleric like Kyra, or a woman in tune with the spirits like Shardra.Dogslicer Ale Goblin MinimateThe third of four goblin Minimate photo s sent along by Paizo’s Erik Mona, this is the Dogslicer Ale Goblin, “named after the official Pathfinder beer at Scotty’s Brewhouse in Indianapolis, not far from the Gen Con convention center. Scotty’s is always the place to be for off-site Pathfinder Society games or casual socializing with Pathfinder fans at the convention. They’ve got a full menu inspired by the Pathfinder game, as well as the aforementioned Dogslicer Ale. This Minimate is available for $5 from Scotty’s during the convention.” Note that if you’re at Gen Con and thinking of dropping by Scotty’s Brewhouse, you can check out their awesome Pathfinder-themed menu here.
